Gov. Mikie Sherrill wanted to personally announce the contract award on Wednesday because the bridge replacement project along Route 50 is so special. Agate Construction Company of Cape May Court House and A. Servidone Inc./B. Anthony Construction Corp. of Old Bridge were given a $47.7 million "design-build" contract for the Route 50 bridge over Cedar Swamp Creek, Sherrill announced during a visit to Cape May County with state Transportation Commissioner Priya Jain. It is anticipated that construction will start in the fall and be finished by the end of 2028.
