Friday August 14, 2026 (Guest: Ruth Kendall, Owner and Operator of The Honeytree and Just Organics Outlet located in Somers Point, New Jersey)

August 14th, 2026 12:00am
New year, new direction for area vitamin and health supplement guru Ruth Kendall, who recently purchased Just Organics, a produce delivery service based in Somers Point. Just Organics is an organic produce and grocery home delivery service offering fruits and vegetables, plus some marketplace items, to build into a box for a complete meal dropped at the doorstep. “What you’re going to get is the most abundant, beautiful array of four or five vegetables, four or five fruits. The value is definitely there, and you would probably spend more and get less at ShopRite,” Kendall said. Kendall has been involved in the natural foods and supplement industry for decades. She said her wellness journey began during her first pregnancy, when she wanted to feed her baby well and supplement herself properly. Two years later, her second child was born with Hereditary Multiple Osteochondromas, requiring her to learn much more to provide for his nutritional needs. “When it comes to helping people with their health, they need to know where you came from,” Kendall said. “His condition required me to really step it up. It’s why I took it to the level I am now.” She said she started eating organic more than 30 years ago, when it was “unaffordable, unattainable” and had to be purchased through cooperatives or community agriculture. Now, it's easy to purchase organic products almost anywhere. The difference, she said, is the freshness and quality. That’s where her new venture ties into her old. Kendall and her husband, Keith, have owned and operated The Honey Tree natural foods store in Northfield since 2015 after being longtime customers of and working for former owner Ron Groff. He had started the business in the late 1980s in a satellite store at the Tilton Shopping Center. They offer high-end quality vitamins, supplements, all-natural hair and skin care, and all-natural foods that are healthy and free of contaminants, additives and artificial ingredients, according to their website, honeytree.net. “Our products are chosen based on efficacy and overall quality, ensuring that we bring you only the best,” Kendall said. Also available at The Honey Tree is a wide variety of organic, gluten-free, plant-based/vegan, paleo and preservative-free natural foods, as well as high-quality CBD products. The Kendalls also provide consultations and will continue to do so, not only for the vitamins and supplements but also for the organic produce and associated products. “Tell me what you eat and let’s find the best choice for you,” Kendall said of her philosophy. Just Organics at 23 Somers Point-Mays Landings Road, Unit 1, is located near the intersection of Route 9 in Somers Point, New Jersey. Kendall has the products from The Honey Tree out front while also offering fresh organic produce, the primary part of Just Organics — its produce delivery service — in the back. “Organic fruits and vegetables is a new venture for us,” she said. However, Just Organics has been around since 2015, well before the trend of home delivery took off during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kendall said while they will continue to ship vitamins and supplements via mail, as well as through their home-delivery service, she never would allow a third party to deliver her produce. “I will never deliver food via the mail. It doesn’t hold up, the quality is not going to hold up,” she said, noting she would lose chain of custody and have to depend on someone else. Just Organics, on which the Kendalls have partnered with Glen and Donna Ellenbart, has five drivers, each assigned to a specific area. Their products are available for delivery throughout Atlantic and Cape May counties. “They know the customers, know the routes, live in the community,” she said. “We’re trying to limit the number of people touching your stuff.” Kendall said she is creating a model based on sustainability, using recycled boxes that customers can reuse.

Sunday August 09, 2026 (A Paws For Your Pet: Our second hour guest is Veterinarian Dr. Mark Newkirk - former owner of Newkirk Family Veterinarians) - Hour Two

August 9th, 2026 12:01am
If you are a pet owner and live in Atlantic County, perhaps you have either heard of or taken your pets to Dr. Mark Newkirk or the offices he founded in Margate and Egg Harbor Township. While the Margate location closed in the early 2000s, Newkirk Family Veterinarians in Egg Harbor Township took its place. Even though Dr. Newkirk retired from working at his office a few years ago, he has not quite stopped his veterinarian practices. Now that he no longer works at his office in EHT, he travels out of the country to help endangered animals and abandoned pets with organizations like World Vets and the African Conservation Experience. He has recently visited Africa, Russia, Ukraine, and Thailand. Dr. Newkirk has been working with animals for nearly his entire life. When he was just 14 years old, he got a job at the Margate Animal Hospital, which he eventually took over. During his college years, as he stated, “...I wanted to actually be a zoo veterinarian back in the 1980s and did an externship at the Philadelphia Zoo. The problem in those days was zoos were designed for people and not for animals.” Nowadays, zoos are equipped with veterinarians for animal rehabilitation centers, but back then, zoos cared more about paying customers than the animals on display for their entertainment. Since no zoo offered what Dr. Newkirk was looking for, he returned to the Margate Animal Hospital. Now that he is retired, he returned to his passion as he said, “...I have the time, and… There are many volunteer programs in Africa and worldwide to work with these types of animals. So I kind of went back to my first love.” Dr. Newkirk travels out of the country for about four months each year to help animals. In South Africa, he has worked with various animal species. His favorites to work with are big cats working like lions and cheetahs. In South Africa, there are lion and cheetah rescues and reserves. These big cats have had their land encroached on by humans, who have turned much of the country into farmland. Many remaining natural areas are fenced off, which cannot always contain them. Now, there is an issue of lions and cheetahs being shot by farmers who are trying to protect their livestock. Dr. Newkirk has also worked with elephants. In Thailand, he worked at an elephant rescue center and conservation reserve. In South Africa, he helped organizations handle the issue of overpopulation. While endangered, they overrun Kruger National Park and find their way onto farmland, often destroying crops. Dr. Newkirk has also volunteered at Hluhuwe-iMfolozi Park with research on wild dogs. He worked with researchers and veterinarians to study and help all different kinds of African Wild Dogs. He was there when the pack was getting so big that there was not enough prey. So Dr. Newkirk helped split the pack and transfer some dogs to other African parks. On top of helping organizations keep lion, cheetah, elephant, and wild dog populations a healthy size, Dr. Newkirk has also worked with rhinoceroses during his time in Africa. He has joined the fight against poaching rhinos. The organizations that Dr. Newkirk helps out at are all nonprofit.

Friday August 07, 2026(Today's guest is Riley Park from PETA-People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals.Open Forum Discussion follows including:benefits of chick peas;the Bourbon Virus;avoiding bottled water; toxic foods and cyber attacks in N.J.)

August 7th, 2026 12:00am
PETA was founded in 1980 and is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. PETA informs policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes kind treatment of animals. PETA is an international nonprofit charitable organization based in Norfolk, Virginia, with entities worldwide. PETA believes that animals have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have an interest in leading their own lives. The very heart of all of PETA’s actions is the idea that it is the right of all beings—human and nonhuman alike—to be free from harm. Our world is plagued with many serious problems, all of which deserve our attention. Cruelty to animals is one of them. We believe that all people should try to stop animal abuse whenever and wherever they can. Since 1980, PETA has campaigned to establish a global society in which humans consider the needs of what Henry Beston, noted American writer and naturalist of the mid-20th century, so beautifully called “the other nations.” We uphold the rights of individual animals to be respected. For most, that means simply leaving them alone. PETA opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview, and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment business. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of rodents, birds, and other animals who are often considered “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. In today’s world of virtually unlimited choices, animal exploitation is simply unacceptable. We can eat better, educate ourselves better, clothe ourselves better, and entertain ourselves better without torturing and killing animals. We have the power to spare animals excruciating pain by making better choices about the food we eat, the things we buy, and the activities we support.

And yes, sometimes that means starting from scratch to get it right. From our shape to our recipe, commitment is how we keep our product consistent, every time. It’s not just about what goes into our pretzels – it’s about how you feel when you eat one…or four! It’s in the memories you make at tailgates, birthday parties, and movie nights – and the happiness you feel when you take the first bite. Sounds like an oxymoron, right? Wrong. All of our pretzels are hand-twisted and baked fresh using an ingredients list that’s short and sweet. Flour, water, yeast, and a pinch of salt are all you knead for a fresh, no mess snack. Because our pretzels are so deliciously simple, we leave it up to you to customize with dips and mustards. Find a new favorite every time! Friday July 24, 2026(Guest: Ruth Kendall-Owner and Operator of The Honeytree and Just Organics Outlet located in Somers Point, New Jersey)

July 24th, 2026 12:00am
Now, she said, it’s easy to purchase organic almost anywhere.

Thursday July 23, 2026 (Guest: Lisa Klassman - publisher of The Sugar Posh Blog - now available in magazine form)

July 23rd, 2026 12:00am
My Mission (written by Lisa Klassman) “Invest in our Youth, to Build a Better Tomorrow” I envision an Atlantic City that shines as a beacon of safety, prosperity, and unity. A city where our neighborhoods are safe and welcoming, where every street is well-lit and patrolled, and where locals, families, and tourists can walk without fear. I see a place where small businesses thrive, built by the dreams and grit of hardworking local entrepreneurs, and where young people grow up surrounded by opportunity, discipline, and hope. My vision includes classrooms that inspire, parks filled with laughter, and a government that reflects the values of the people it serves. I see Atlantic City not just as a tourist destination, but as a place people are proud to call home. A place where futures are built and families are rooted. “ My mission is to “Invest in our Youth, to Build a Better Tomorrow”, the strength of our City tomorrow depends on how we support and guide our young people today! I am committed to bringing principled, common-sense leadership to City Hall. Leadership that listens to the people, responds with urgency, and acts with purpose. That means showing up, staying engaged, and being accountable every single day...

Sunday July 19, 2026 (A Paws For Your Pet: Today's second hour guest is Dr. Alka Chandna - a representative of PETA - People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals) - Hour Two

July 19th, 2026 12:01am

Sunday July 12, 2026 (A Paws For Your Pet: Our second hour guest is Veterinarian Dr. Mark Newkirk - former owner of Newkirk Family Veterinarians) - Hour Two

July 12th, 2026 12:01am

During anesthesia years I observed and helped many patients with pain. Some came for surgeries and ended up having chronic pain whereas there were others who were already dealing with chronic pain and were looking into many more surgeries. Having practiced anesthesiology in 2 different continents I saw the different sociocultural approaches to pain and the impact on physical and emotional well being of patients. I saw gaps in the knowledge and support of these patients. So I gave up my full time anesthesia job to learn more about interventional pain from the best in the world. I joined Cleveland Clinic as a fellow to learn more about multidisciplinary approaches to pain as well as more advanced treatments for pain. After my training I decided to dedicate my time to treatment of pain in all types of pain pathologies. I believe that every pain is unique and should be treated as such. I believe that every patient should have access to the best possible care, and I strive to provide this to my patients. Now retired after more than 45 years in the financial industry, Jeanne Eisele has treasured the deep and durable relationships she has built with her clients. She dedicated her practice to evolving those connections from simply professional to, what she would describe as, "family." Jeanne specialized in asset preservation working alongside her clients' estate attorneys and CPAs to develop investment strategies via trusts, partnerships, guardianships, and insurance. Jeanne also managed the team's quarterly workshops and marketing activities. As co-founder of Anchor Financial and with affiliation to Raymond James, Jeanne believed that her firm could offer a positive alternative to the bureaucracy and proprietary products that unfortunately infiltrate many Wall Street firms. Before joining Raymond James in 2022, Jeanne was the First Vice President of Investments at UBS Financial Services, where she worked for 10 years. Before UBS, Jeanne serves as the First Vice President of Investments at Merrill Lynch. Active in the community, Jeanne serves on the board of the Schultz-Hill Foundation and Trustee of Principle Academy Charter School. Jeanne's family had a business in Atlantic City where she spent her summers in New Jersey and her winters in Florida. She still travels frequently between both states, calling both "home." Jeanne is a "foodie" and "wine buff." She currently is a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs and Epicurean Society of Southern Jersey. In addition, Jeanne loves to travel and spend time with her husband, Tom.

Tuesday June 30, 2026 (Guests today include: Charlie Szoradi - CEO and Co-Founder of "OnlyKale" based in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and listener Chris Miller from Massachusetts discussing the status of The Miss America Pageant)

June 30th, 2026 12:00am
An entrepreneur, author and innovator, Bryn Mawr’s Charlie Szoradi has spent a lifetime exploring the connections between how we live, what we eat and the way we impact the world. OnlyKale sprouted when he noticed a market gap for the quick and convenient consumption of one of nature’s most nutrient-dense leafy greens. As CEO and cofounder, Szoradi has simplified access to his line of organic freeze-dried products with a powder for active lifestyles, making it an easy addition to any protein shake. What was the inspiration for the OnlyKale line? I’ve personally grown some 60 heads of kale a year for home use for years. I grew tired of taking fresh bags on weekends when I’d travel. Single-serve sticks make it fast and easy. Why kale? It has more benefits in it than what pharmaceutical industry could produce with a trillion dollars—and Mother Earth has given it to us. You’ll feel more energized and recover sooner. With kale as an antioxidant, you may not get as sick—or sick at all. We can also make a useful case for weight loss, since there’s only five calories in an average box. If you have three vegetable servings a day and one of them is only five calories, that’s ridiculously small. What are the advantages of freeze-dying and powderizing it? The vast majority of kale in the U.S. is grown in California, so it often travels multiple days to its destination in a grocery store or market. The days of transit under refrigerated conditions reduce the nutrients by as much as 30%. We freeze-dry the kale right at the farms to retain over 95% of the nutrients. By powderizing it, we reduce the shipping weight by 90%. It’s also shelf-stable—and maybe the most sustainable and increasingly popular future food solution on the planet. How do you typically consume the powder? Mixed with water, sometimes with a little bit of lemon—or mixing it with morning smoothies. For kids who hate vegetables, you can sneak it into food, a salad or lasagna. Some are also putting it in cocktails, so there’s a social side. What does the future hold for your company? Expansion into grocery stores, lifestyle venue stores and health-food locations beyond the e-commerce that’s already out there. I want to build a network of influencers who aren’t necessarily on Instagram—authentic users of the product who are also advocates and can build awareness among other legit active users within their networks. It’s a grassroots play from the ground up, you might say. Kale Facts Scientific name: Brassica oleracea var. sabellica. Family: Brassicaceae. High in: Vitamins A, C and K, antioxidants, potassium, calcium, and iron. When it grows: A cool-season vegetable that thrives in the fall and winter months. Varieties: Curly kale (with ruffled leaves), Lacinato kale (aka dinosaur kale or Tuscan kale, with long, dark-green leaves), Red Russian kale (with flat, fringed leaves and purplish-red veins). Great for: Salads, stir-fries, smoothies and soups. It can be sautéed, roasted or baked.
