The Township Committee has approved a $29.8 million general fund budget for 2026, which includes a 2.3-cent increase in the municipal tax rate-a 3.7% increase over the previous year. A home with an assessed value of $300,000 will pay an extra $69 annually for municipal services under the proposal. Strong cost pressures on the township, such as skyrocketing employee health insurance premiums, rising electric utility rates, contracted salary and wage increases, an increase in debt service expenses, and an annual increase in the trash pickup and recycling contract, led to the tax rate increase.
