Sea Isle Mayor Len Desiderio invites the community to attend Sea Isle City's second annual Women Veterans Recognition Day Ceremony on Friday, June 12 at 10:00 AM at Veterans Park (JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue). In the event of rain, the ceremony will move inside the Community Center (4500 Central Avenue). The ceremony will feature guest speakers, local dignitaries, patriotic hymns, and prayers for our nation's female soldiers and veterans. During the ceremony, there will be a presentation from South Jersey’s Quilts of Valor organization and a memorial wreath honoring our women veterans will be placed at the Memorial Fountain. On June 12, 1948, President Truman signed the Women's Armed Services Integration Act which allowed women the right to serve as permanent members in the United States Armed Forces.
