As more large computing facilities are being built or considered throughout New Jersey, Lacey township officials are debating whether to outlaw data centers. The Pinelands Alliance, an environmental group that opposes the projects within this environmentally fragile 1 million-acre forest, organized a discussion on data centers with South Jersey mayors, which Mayor Steven Kennis told the Township Committee on Thursday. "A number of communities are starting to ban data centers," the mayor stated, adding that the topic was added to the agenda in order to start a conversation on the contentious issue.
