Juvenile Crimes, Court Filings Down In Atlantic County, Says Data

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office (ACPO) today announced measurable and sustained progress in reducing juvenile crime, lowering court filings, and improving outcomes for justice-involved youth through a dual approach of strict enforcement and meaningful diversion opportunities. Data compiled from 2021 through 2026 reflects a system that has become more efficient, more targeted, and more effective in protecting public safety while reducing unnecessary system involvement for young offenders. Since 2024, juvenile cases filed in court have declined dramatically, with a 58.26% reduction in new juvenile cases over a two-year period. At the same time, the number of juveniles held in custody has dropped significantly, reflecting a 57.14% decrease in detained youth between April 2024 and April 2026.
