There are still two significant all-female lifeguard competitions in South Jersey this summer, and both will be held by the Ventnor Beach Patrol. The 30th Bill Howarth Women's Lifeguard Invitational races will take place at the Suffolk Avenue beach on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The competition will feature all 15 patrols in the South Jersey Lifeguard Chiefs Association. Typically, the Howarths are the final all-female lifeguard competition of the SJLCA season. The race was renamed the Bill Howarth Women's South Jersey Lifeguard Championships last summer, mirroring the prestigious and historic men's competition.
