The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District has selected Agate Construction Co. of Egg Harbor Township to tackle critical repairs along Absecon Island, awarding the local contractor a $19.695 million contract. SouthJerseyNewsBeat.com reports the project will address ocean outfall pipes at seven specific locations spanning three municipalities. In Atlantic City, crews will repair or extend pipes at New Jersey Avenue, St James Place, Virginia Avenue, and California Avenue. Ventnor City's Jackson Avenue outfall is also on the list, along with two Margate locations: Nassau Avenue and Vendome Avenue.
