As part of a total of over $180,000 in grants recently given out by New Jersey American Water and its parent company's philanthropy arm, Egg Harbor Township High School got $10,000 to support a student-led coastal resiliency project, the utility said on Monday. In order to strengthen dune systems, enhance stormwater management, and prevent saltwater intrusion into freshwater watersheds, the high school's oceanography and environmental science students will pre-condition dune grass in the school's greenhouse before planting it along the Ocean City coastline, according to a news release from New Jersey American Water.
