A mosquito sample taken from Northfield is the first to test positive for West Nile virus in Atlantic County this year. BreakingAC.com reports the sample was collected May 20 from the 1200 block of Zion Road in Northfield, according to the county. Representatives from the Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control collected the sample, which was confirmed positive for West Nile virus on Wednesday. Atlantic County Public Health and Mosquito Control officials are conducting mosquito surveillance and implementing additional control measures. There are no reported human cases of the virus at this time, according to county health officials.
