Despite prior notice from the FAA that it would not, Cape May County has requested that the organization running the county airport submit an official application to the FAA requesting permission to construct rental homes on the property. On 18 acres of the roughly 1,000-acre airport property on Breakwater Road, the county plans to build townhomes that will only be used by Coast Guard troops, other military personnel assisting with airport operations, airport maintenance, police, fire, and emergency medical services.
