A former Atlantic County Public Works supervisor has admitted to stealing thousands of dollars in county-owned fuel to run his private trucking business. Forty-eight-year-old Joseph Ridley-Jenkins of Mays Landing pleaded guilty on Wednesday to third-degree theft after investigators caught him directing employees to fill his private fleet at public pumps almost daily for over two years. Authorities launched an investigation in May 2025 after public works staff noticed glaring irregularities in the county’s diesel fuel logs. Under the plea deal, Ridley-Jenkins faces four years in state prison, $20,000 in restitution, and a permanent ban from public employment.
