County Commissioners Challenge State Immigration Enforcement Restrictions

Cape May county's leadership has drawn a line in the sand over state policies they say handcuff local police from working with federal immigration officials. SouthJerseyNewsBeat.com reports the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday, August 25, to formally oppose a package of recently passed state laws that curtail how New Jersey law enforcement agencies can collaborate with federal immigration authorities. The resolution targets restrictions on sharing information between agencies, new limitations on how officers can identify themselves, and additional requirements governing police interactions with residents.
