New Jersey's prisons inspector has released a fresh report that details overcrowding, unbearable heat, and other shortcomings at Bayside State Prison in Cumberland County. According to a study published on Tuesday by the state correctional ombudsperson's office, Bayside, one of the biggest lockups in the state, now has about 1,300 inmates, more than twice its capacity. Built to house 504 inmates, the mixed-security prison in Leesburg opened its doors in 1971.
