The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office released new statistics showing sustained, multi-year declines across major crime categories through July 31, 2026. Countywide homicides dropped to four and non-fatal shootings fell to eight, with investigators achieving an 88% clearance rate for shootings and a 100% rate for homicides in Atlantic City. Drug-related deaths and fatal traffic crashes also decreased dramatically, putting the county on pace for its lowest annual drug mortality total in six years. Prosecutor William E. Reynolds attributed the improved public safety metrics to strong coordination among municipal police departments, the Sheriff’s Office, and law enforcement staff.
