Personalities

Don Williams

Don was born in Philadelphia and attended grade school in Holmes Delaware County. He was a worker from an early age and had a paper route which made it possible for him to go to Phillies & A's Sunday doubleheaders. His family moved to the Hills of Chester County where Don attended Downingtown High School. He played County baseball and pitched on the All-Star team but gave up baseball after winning a talent show picking & singing country music.

Don's broadcasting career started when a band that played on WCOJ in Coatsville, PA asked him to join them. He sang and even started to book the band at the Fairs & Country Music Parks where they would open for the name bands - most from the Grand Ole Opry.

The family moved to Atlantic City and Don landed a job in radio as DJ and salesman. After several years in AC he took a job as a Program Director in North Carolina. Don was a contributor to the desegregation effort during his time in the South getting black history on the air in the mid 60's and booking James Brown to play locally.

Don came back to Atlantic City 1971 as Program Director at WOND, moved on to WMID, then back to WOND when it changed the format to Talk in the early 80's where he has been attracting a strong and loyal following ever since. Some of Don's career highlights include interviewing Medal of Honor recipients, Steve Wynn in Las Vegas and countless politicians, news makers and policymakers over the years.
