Atlantic City Regional Stand Down

MEDIA ADVISORYAtlantic City Regional Stand DownWednesday, MAY 17, 2017On Wednesday, 17 May 2017, from 10:00 a. m. until 3:00 p.m. a Stand Down event will be held at the All Wars Memorial, 1510 Adriatic Avenue in Atlantic City, with the American Legion, Department of New Jersey, as the primary sponsor. Up to 250 homeless veterans expected to attend. It will provide services to homeless veterans along with access to emergency shelter, meals, clothing, and medical attention. It will reach out to homeless veterans from Salem County to Atlantic County and all New Jersey communities throughout southern New Jersey.The event will feature service providers such as state and federal agencies, the City of Atlantic City, various veterans’ service organizations, military personnel, local grammar schools, civic leaders, and a variety of other organizations, as a catalyst that enables homeless veterans to re-enter mainstream society. In addition to VA and state benefits and medical screening, the event will provide a continental breakfast and lunch for each homeless veteran. Whoever wants or needs one, can also receive a free haircut; and, a supply of gently used clothing. Free parking for all attendees is located at the Historic Gardner's Basin parking lot, 800 N. New Hampshire Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. An Atlantic County Shuttle Bus will transport everyone to and from the Atlantic City Regional Stand Down site between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, an Atlantic County Shuttle Bus will transport everyone to and from the Atlantic City Regional Stand Down site.
